Softball takes on a pair of Summit League foes

UNC travels to Omaha to face, Nebraska Omaha and South Dakota State this weekend
GREELEY, Colo. – After Mother Nature canceled last weekend's series, Northern Colorado softball returns to action this weekend to face a pair of Summit League foes. UNC will take on Nebraska Omaha and South Dakota State for a total of five games over Friday through Sunday.
Leading Off
• Northern Colorado's doubleheader against Colorado State was postponed last week due to weather.
• UNC faces a pair of Summit League foes this week in host Nebraska Omaha and South Dakota State.
• The Bears hosted SDSU two weeks ago, playing the Jackrabbits twice falling 14-8 and 10-1.
• Freshman Alison Steinker had a strong weekend the last time the Bears were on the field. She hit .625 with a run scored starting in three games and appearing in four. She is hitting .370 for the year.
• Carson Fischer continues to lead the team in runs batted in with nine on the season. She had a three RBI game against SDSU two weeks ago. Fischer leads the team with three multi-RBI games.
Scouting Nebraska Omaha
Nebraska Omaha finally plays its first home games of the year this week when they first host Creighton on Wednesday before hosting the Bears and Jackrabbits.
UNO is looking for its bats to heat up with the weather as they enter the weekend hitting .256 as a team. Lexi Burkhardt leads the team hitting .390.
In the circle, Sydney Nuismer leads the team with a 3.99 ERA.
Scouting South Dakota State
South Dakota State has been on a tear this year entering the weekend at 13-4 overall.
Emma Osmundson leads the team with an impressive .462 batting average. Cylie Halvorson is the team's big bat with seven home runs on the year.
The duo of Tori Kniesche and Grace Glanzer have been tough to touch in the circle. Kniesche is 6-1 with a 1.97 ERA and two complete games. Glanzer has a 3.13 ERA and 5-2 record. She has an impressive seven complete games.
SDSU was picked to finish second in the Summit League this year.
What's Ahead
Northern Colorado starts Big Sky play next week when they travel to Sacramento. The Bears and Hornets will play a double header on March 27 and follow it up with the three-game series finally on March 28.
