@BearsSoftball Heads North for Rematch with Rams

Northern Colorado will play No. 25 Colorado State on Tuesday
Northern Colorado softball will travel north to take on No. 25 Colorado State on Tuesday afternoon for a one-game matchup. UNC looks to rebound after a tough weekend home against Sacramento State. The Hornets won all three games against the Bears, dropping the Bears record to 5-9 in conference and 11-33 overall.
During the weekend series, Dani Young batted an impressive, six-for-eight, recording a hit in each of the three games. Young accounted for five RBIs and scored three runs, including hitting her third home run of the season. Young has been solid on defense this season, ranking fourth in the Big Sky with a .991 fielding percentage.
Cheyenne Talmadge had a productive final home series, going six-for-11 with three runs scored and two RBIs. In her senior season, Talmadge has maintained her speed, ranking sixth in the conference with seven stolen basses on 11 attempts.
Mady Young continued to be productive for UNC and went five-for-13 against Sac. St. Young scored three runs and recorded four RBIs. Young is tied for the team lead with 21 RBIs.
Emma Brockmann carried over her hot bat from the road and finished the weekend with a .333 batting average. Brockmann hit her fourth home run, tied for the team lead, while also drawing three walks. Brockmann leads the team with a .315 batting average and is tied with Young for the team lead in RBIs.
The Bears will take the short ride up I-25 for their second game against the Rams this season.
Rematch against the Rams
Northern Colorado and Colorado St. met in late March at Gloria Rodriguez Field, with the Rams slipping by the Bears 4-3 in eight innings. Mady Young and Taylor Libby each recorded RBIs, and Valerie Vidal allowed three earned runs over seven innings pitched.
Colorado St. is currently ranked No. 25 in the nation with a 33-7 overall record and 15-3 in Mountain West games. The Rams have not dropped a conference series and took, two-of-three games from Nevada this past weekend.
Following the Bears
First pitch for the game between Northern Colorado and Colorado St. is scheduled for 4 pm MST on Tuesday, April 23rd. The game will be played at Ram Field in Fort Collins.
