Men's Distance Leads Success at Triton Invite fro @UNC_TrackField

Jeremy Romero had two top-3 performances with two personal records
LA JOLLA, Calif.- It was a west coast road trip for Northern Colorado track and field, as they competed at the Triton Invitational, hosted by the University of California at San Diego. UNC men had an impressive showing on the track and the women had strong performance in the field events.
The men's distance runners had another strong showing in both the 1500m and 5000m. Jeremy Romero set a personal record in the 5000m, with a 14:37.51-minute time to place second. Josh Campbell placed fourth with a personal record of 14:41.25 minutes. Ryan Lehmuth made it three personal records in the event, with a 14:46.42-minute time to place sixth.
Romero set another personal record in the 1500m with a time of 3:52.10 minutes to place third. Campbell would follow Romero's lead with a personal record time of 3.52.93 minutes, 13 seconds better than his previous mark.
Fresh off his Big Sky Athlete of the week award, Kyle Thomas placed second in the men's 400m with a 47.52-second time. Adam Stark finished seventh in the event with a 48.61-second time.
Thomas and Stark joined together, with Alex Ayers and Antoine Coates to place second in the men's 4x400m relay team. The team placed with a time of 3.11.04 minutes, a season-best time for UNC.
The men's 4x100m team placed third with a 41.43-second time. Kyle Thomas, Deondre Ritter, Jalen Lyon and Greg Laday put together a strong performance to earn a top-3 finish.
The Bears continued to find success in the women's high jump, Kylie Chavez placed third, clearing the bar at 1.62m. Mackenzie Pettit placed sixth after clearing the bar at 1.57m. The two competed in the open high jump, with the bar starting at 1.52m. In the Invitational high jump, McKayla Bauer placed fourth after clearing the bar at 1.65m. McKenna McGrath also cleared the bar at 1.65m to finish behind Bauer.
Laday continued his strong day, matching his personal record in the men's 100m with a 10.73-second performance to place fourth in the event. Ritter placed seventh with a 10.76-second time.
Coates earned a fourth place finish in the men's 200m with a 21.53-second time.
The women's 4x100m relay placed fourth in the event with a 47.74-second time. Dorian Nesby, Blair Berhardt, Samara Lishchynsky and Kelsi Schuetz combined with solid performances to place for the Bears.
Jake Tagita placed fifth in the triple jump, recording a 14.39 mark.
Cammy Sargent finished fifth in the women's 800m with a time of 2:10.40 minutes.
Sargent would compete on the 4x400m relay team, along with Mackenzie Howie, Nesby and Schuetz. The team placed fourth with a time of 3:54.91 minutes.
Howie also placed sixth in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.24 seconds.
Kylie Chavez recorded a personal record in the women's triple jump, placing seventh with a 11.63m mark. Ashley Register was eighth with a 11.57m mark.
Improving Individuals
Ayers set a personal record in the 400m hurdles, finishing the race with a time of 53.73 seconds.
Nesby posted a personal record in the 100m dash with a 12.13-second time.
Cameron Ross recorded a persona record in the 800m with a time of 1:53.41 minutes.
Team Results
The men's team was second in the team standings with 67 points, while the women's team was seventh with 31 points.

Northern Colorado will head back to Nottingham Field for the UNC invite on Friday, April 19th, with events taking place all day.
