Northern Colorado men's and women's teams won multiple events on Sunday
It was good to be home for Northern Colorado Track and Field, as they hosted the Tom Benich Invite and the team was firing on all cylinders. Sunday was senior day for Northern Colorado Track and Field, as the team honored 23 of its athletes during the competition.
"I think we had a lot of performance that kids showed up to at home," head coach Amanda Schick said. "We had 23 seniors present and the class came in at 26, with one redshirting until next year. It's a really large class and it was awesome to see them all on the line with their families. It really makes it special to take a moment reminisce about the last four years and what those seniors have done for the program. What we have been able to build off of them, with the culture and mindset that they have helped us establish here at UNC. It's a great group to lead this program and I'm excited to see the rest of their seasons."
Stephen Haas started senior day with a bang, breaking the program record for the 10,000m with a time of 30:41.65 minutes. Haas broke his own record, which he set last season. "Stephen Haas set a new record in the 10K and he's seeing what he can do to get into the west region," Schick said.

You are fully exposed in track and field and we are trying to get to that next height, meter or 10th of a second. It requires a lot of uncomfortableness and we need to see that in practice in order to improve. We need to be locked into our workdays and we are only as good as we practice."
