FORT COLLINS – Northern Colorado track and field competed at the Fum McGraw meet on Saturday, with both the men's and women's teams putting some strong performances.
"The men's 4x100 made some good improvements this weekend," head coach Amanda Schick said. "It was nice to have a consistent week of training after that race the A-Team was leading the conference. We're going to continue to look at a few different options as far as people running different legs, but it's a great group of men that we have to pick from. Those guys are putting in the work and both relays showed substantial improvement with just a week. I am proud of those guys."
Northern Colorado's men's 4x100m relay team was victorious on Saturday afternoon, winning the event with a time of 40.88 seconds. Greg Laday, Kyle Thomas, Jalen Lyon and Deondre Ritter all stepped up to get the Bears the win.
UNC also placed fourth in the relay, with Bailey Sexton, Ibro Soumah, Adam Stark and Antoine Coates finishing with a time of 41.88 seconds.
McKayla Bauer set a personal-best in the women's high jump, clearing the bar at 1.66m to place second among the field.
In the women's triple jump, Kylie Chavez recorded a personal-best with a 11.61m jump to place second.
Lucas Duggan placed fifth for UNC in the men's 1500m run, finishing with a time of 4:05.05 minut
In the men's triple jump, Maccee Reed recorded a 13.32m jump to place sixth in the event.
Ashley Register posted a personal-best in the women's long jump with a 5.47m jump to place seventh in the event. Dakota Divich placed eighth in the event with a 5.23m jump.
Brooke Walker placed eighth for the Bears in the women's pole vault, recording a personal-best 3.56m performance.
"It was not the ideal weather conditions, but that's March track in Colorado," Schick explained. "There were a lot of good performance on the track and through the field events. Kylie Chavez continues to progress and we look for her to be a big contributor for Big Sky's."
