Northern Colorado will travel to Bozeman for its first conference road test
Northern Colorado women's basketball heads into the New Year with a two-game winning streak and will face Montana State in the team's first road, Big Sky test of the season.

Northern Colorado defeated Portland State, 77-58, in the team's conference opener. UNC had a strong defensive performance, holding the Vikings to 38.9 percent shooting and 22.2 percent from three-point range. The Bears held Portland St. to four points in the second quarter. The Bears finished 4-5 in their non-conference schedule before opening Big Sky play against the Vikings.

Bridget Hintz scored a career-high, 21 points, against Portland St., topping her previous high of 15. Hintz was 9-of-13 from the floor, adding seven rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal.

Alexis Chapman leads UNC with 13.8 points per game. Chapman has not been shy from beyond the arch, racking up 67 attempted three-point shots, making 22. She ranks third in the conference with 2.20 three-point field goals per game and second with a 32.8 percent on three-pointers.

Micayla Isenbart recorded her fourth career 20-point game against the Vikings. Isenbart tied her career-high with five made three-pointers on eight attempts.

Montana State was selected to win the Big Sky in both the media and coaches preseason poll. The Bobcats are 6-5 overall this season and are 2-0 early in conference. They picked up road wins against Sacramento State and Northern Arizona. Montana St. has three players averaging 10+ points this season. Fallyn Freije leads the Bobcats with 12.3 points per game, followed closely by Oliana Squires with 11.6 per game. Darian White adds 10.8 points per game to give the team versatile scoring. Freije also leads the team with 7.1 rebounds per game.

Northern Colorado is 14-13 in program history against the Bobcats, going 8-6 Greeley and 5-7 in Bozeman while going 1-0 in neutral sites. The Bears won the last meeting between the two teams back in February by a score of 84-73 in Bozeman.
