OGDEN, UTAH – Northern Colorado (8-17, 4-10 Big Sky) held a late lead over Weber State (16-8, 11-2 Big Sky) on Thursday night, but the Wildcats were able to overcome the deficit and squeak out the win at home, 69-63.
How It Happened:
Much like last time the two teams met, the game remained tight, as the largest lead the whole night was eight points.
Northern Colorado grabbed the edge early, on a 14-4 run to end the first half. During the rally sophomore guard, Jordan Davis was good for eight of the 14 points, giving the Bears a 32-28 lead at break.
Weber State's Jeremy Senglin scored his only points of the game in the first half, ending with six, thanks to a stout defensive performance from redshirt freshman guard, Jonah Radebaugh.
The Bears maintained the lead for 13 of the 20 minutes in the second half and were up by as many as eight (40-32) after a freshman forward, Kai Edwards lay-in with 16:00 to play in the contest.
Redshirt sophomore guard, Chaz Glotta cashed in on his second three-pointer of the game at the 9:12 mark in the second half to keep UNC on top, but that would be the last bucket for the Bears for close to five minutes.
During that time, Weber State made a charge. The Wildcats traversed on a 12-0 run to tilt the scoreboard in their favor 58-52 with 4:30 left in the game.
Glotta ended the rally with his third make from downtown to cut the lead back to a single possession.
Northern Colorado worked its way back into the game thanks to six straight points from Davis to tie it at 63-63 with 90 seconds remaining on the clock.
Unfortunately, the Bears went 0-for-6 from the field over the last 1:29 of the game and WSU cashed in on six straight makes at the free throw line from Kyndahl Hill to seal the ball game at 69-63.
Four players for UNC finished in double figures with Davis leading the pack. The sophomore scored 21 points on 10-of-25 shooting, adding six assists, four rebounds and three steals to his stat line.
Radebaugh and Glotta finished with 11 apiece, while Edwards rounded out the group with 10 points.
Hill led Weber State on the evening with 19 points.

In Their Words:
Head Coach, Jeff Linder
"What Weber State did there in the end is what championship teams do. That's why they're the top team in the league and that's why I'm rooting for those guys to go on and win the conference, since we're doing playing them now, and win the conference tournament since we can't play in it this year. I have so much respect for that program and what Coach [Randy] Raye does."
"I've known a lot of really good Division I coaches that have inherited teams where that first year was really tough and what they all say is that last thing that comes is winning. In the meantime, you have to build winning habits in order to one day win those games. Sometimes you can't look at the record, you have to look at moments like this and take away the positives."
Notables:
- UNC dished out 16 assists on 27 made baskets.
- The Bears finished the night 27-of-62 (43%) from the floor and 7-of-24 (29%) from beyond the arc.
- Northern Colorado held Weber State to just 28% shooting from three-point land in the loss.
