@BearsSoftball Looks To Make Up Ground At Weber State

The Bears and the Wildcats will play at three-game series beginning with a doubleheader on Friday, April 1.
GREELEY, Colo. – The softball team is on the road this weekend heading to Ogden, Utah for a three-game series with Weber State on April 1-2. The Bears have played 19 of their 25 games this season away from Greeley, but this will be the first Big Sky road trip for the team.
UNC and WSU will dual in a doubleheader on Friday, April 1 with games at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. and finish the series on Saturday, April 2 with a game at noon.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Northern Colorado (4-21, 0-3 Big Sky) dropped all three league opening games to Montana this past weekend. The Bears got out to early leads in all three contests and led heading into the seventh inning in two of them, but couldn't find a way to close, getting swept by the Griz.
- Erica Dick finished the three-game series with UM with a .666 batting average going 8-of-12 with 5 RBI.
- Dick has connected for 32 hits and 5 triples this season. Her triple numbers lead all of the Big Sky. She also has an impressive slugging percentage of .697, ranking her second overall in the league.
- Northern Colorado played just one game against Weber State last season in Greeley. Trailing 15-7, UNC used a 10 run bottom of the seventh to come back and earn the win over the Wildcats.
- The Bears base running has been very aggressive this season. The team has racked up 35 stolen bases on 45 attempts and has a Big Sky leading, eight stolen bases in a single game which they did against Utah State just two weeks ago.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
- Weber State opened conference play with a 2-1 series win at Portland State. After dropping the first game 4-0, the Wildcats won the final two 5-3 and 10-2. Overall WSU comes into the weekend with a 18-12 record.
- The Wildcats have six players with a .300 batting average, or better and are led by Aubrey Whitmer. Whitmer has a team-high average of .402 and leads them in RBI with 31 on the season.
- WSU also has some arms in the circle. Both Kirtlyn Bohling and Baylee Reeves have an ERA under three (2.33 and 2.77) and boast a combined record of 15-7 (11-3 and 4-4). Bohling has thrown eight complete games and has accumulated 30 strikeouts this season. Teams are batting just .235 against her.
CHASING RECORDS
- Shortstop Erica Dick is just two home runs and four runs away from tying NCAA Division I career runs and HRs records. Dick currently has 21 career homers and 111 runs and could tie or break each record as early as this weekend. In the last six games she's raised her batting average from .368 to .421 scoring eight runs and tallying six RBI.
WEEKEND FORECAST
- The Bears will finally get some warm weather to play in. It'll be 60 degrees and sunny in Ogden for all three games against Weber State this weekend.

- Northern Colorado has always played well against Weber State. UNC holds a 14-6 advantage in all-time series. The last time the Bears played in Ogden was in the 2014 season. The team earned a series sweep over the Wildcats defeating them 3-0, 4-3 and 10-9.
