Cheney, Wash – Following their clutch performance Friday evening against North Dakota, the Bears officially clinched the sixth seed in the Big Sky Tournament.
With number one-seeded Idaho and two-seeded Sacramento State earning first-round byes, Northern Colorado will match up against fellow Northern, Northern Arizona.
In the first meeting between the Lumberjacks and the Bears this season, UNC came away with a 3-0 victory in a game played at Jackson Stadium. Kassy Castillo rattled in her first goal of the year on an assist from Brooke Braden, while Mariel Gutierrez and Sydney Schroeder also tallied goals in the game.
The Bears surrendered 21 shots on the afternoon, however, conference leader in saves Madeline Burdick (87) turned aside all seven shots on goal.
Since losing to the Bears, Northern Arizona has gone un-beaten to finish out the regular season. The Lumberjacks played both Montana and Idaho to a tie, and also strung out an impressive win against Eastern Washington, 3-1.
