Greeley, Colo – Coming off a tough weekend in Idaho, the Bears are looking to rebound with the first of four consecutive home games. Friday night at Jackson Stadium, Northern Colorado will welcome the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah. Kickoff is slated for 7pm.
Both teams enter Friday with identical 1-2 records in Big Sky Conference play. The Bears kicked off conference with a win at Weber State and then followed it up with two losses to Idaho and Idaho State. Southern Utah on the other hand, Lost an 0-2 game at Sacramento State then immediately defeated Portland State but fell to Weber State.
The Thunderbirds have face a brutal schedule in thus far in 2016, spending nearly the entire first month of the season on the road. Prior to only their second home game this season mid-way through September against Dixie State, Southern Utah had already face three teams in the top 100 (UNLV, Portland and Washington).
Friday's conference matchup marks the eighth meeting between Southern Utah and Northern Colorado. As it stands, the all-time series remains tied at 2-2-3, meaning this week's victory claims not only another Big Sky win, but also bragging rights, for the moment, in the all-time series.
Through two weekends of Big Sky play, Northern Colorado and Southern Utah each have three points. Last season, 15 points got you into the conference tournament. Eastern Washington remains the only undefeated team with a 3-0-1 conference record.
Scouting the Thunderbirds
-At 99, the Thunderbirds have taken the least amount of shots in the conference.
-Southern Utah is the only school in the Big Sky Conference not to record a shutout so far in 2016.
-Through 10 games, the Thunderbirds have recorded the least amount of saves in the Big Sky at 34.
-Southern Utah has allowed 2.40 goals per game. Only Portland State (2.42) averages more.
Scouting the Bears
-At 4-0-0 this season, Northern Colorado is tied with Eastern Washington with the best home record in the conference.
-Goalkeeper Madeline Burdick leads the Big Sky in saves with 68.
-With her goal against Idaho State, Brooke Braden has climbed into the top 10 in the conference in goals this season.
-Through 12 games, the Bears have earned 58 corner kicks, good enough for third best in the conference.

Mariel Gutierrez and Logan Harker (SUU) each have two game-winning goals this season, putting each of them in the top two in the conference in the category.
