@UNCBearsSoccer faces North Dakota on Senior Night
10/27/2016 11:20:00 AM | Women's Soccer
Greeley, Colo – For the last time in the regular season, Northern Colorado Women's Soccer faces North Dakota in a virtual must-win scenario to secure a spot in the Big Sky Conference tournament.
The math complicates with dozens of possible outcomes involving three-way and four-way ties. Simply, with a win, UNC would finish the season with 16 points, ahead of Portland State, Montana and Northern Arizona, not taking into account those teams' games on Friday. Thus, a loss by either of those three and the Bears are in.
Northern Colorado returns from a daunting weekend in which they took down Eastern Washington, 3-2, and took Montana to a tie, 0-0. The weekend was highlighted by senior goalkeeper Alyssa McGuire. Seeing her first collegiate minutes on the soccer field, McGuire let in only two goals in the two games and saved 13 shots.
Friday's game will make nine times that Northern Colorado and North Dakota have gone toe-to-toe on the soccer field. In the previous eight matchups, UNC has never lost, sporting a record of 8-0-0.
North Dakota is coming off back-to-back losses to Montana, 1-0, and Eastern Washington, 6-1. However, It did take the Grizzlies a late overtime goal to best the Fighting Hawks.
