Greeley, Colo – Half-way through their home stand, Northern Colorado looks to continue their winning ways on Friday when they'll hos the Portland State Vikings at 7 pm.
The Bears improved to 8-5-1 and 3-2 in the Big Sky Conference after a pair of wins last weekend over Southern Utah and Northern Arizona.
Their duo of wins over the weekend propelled themselves out of the depths of the conference standings into a tie for third place. The Bears are just four points behind Eastern Washington for second place and two points clear of seventh place Montana. The top six teams at the end of the year make the conference tournament.
Each of the last three years, 15 points at the end of conference play has clinched teams a birth into the Big Sky Tournament. Northern Colorado's three victories has them perched at nine points.
Portland State is coming off back-to-back losses against Idaho State and Idaho. The Vikings' lone Big Sky victory came against Montana, where Portland State won 1-0 at Hillsboro Stadium.
PSU did manage to walk away with a 0-0 tied against Eastern Washington, who is the only Big Sky School who hasn't lost a conference game in 2016.
Friday will mark the 12th all-time meeting between the Bears and the Vikings. Portland State owns the record with a mark of 7-4-1. However, UNC won the most recent matchup last season, 1-0, in Oregon.
