Northern Colorado baseball has it's home opener this weekend when they take on North Dakota State in a four game series
After being snowed out last weekend, Northern Colorado baseball returns to the diamond when they take on North Dakota State this weekend.
Games 5-8
Who:Â North Dakota State, 1-8 overall
When:Â Friday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7 at Noon & 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 8 at Noon

First Pitch
• Northern Colorado was supposed to play a three game series against Abilene Christian last weekend, but all three games were cancelled due to snow. The team's game against Texas Tech on Monday was also cancelled due to snow.
• UNC and North Dakota State faced off against each other last year in a four game series, also in Greeley. The teams split the series.
• Six position players and eight pitchers made their debut over the weekend as Bears.
• Nick Tanner earned his first career win on Saturday going eight innings allowing one run on two hits with five walks and five strikeouts.
• UNC lost its first two games in heart breaking fashion both via a walk-off. The first game was a walk off walk, followed by a walk-off sac fly in the second game.
• Cole Maltese had a solid weekend against SJSU going 6-16 with three runs and two RBIs. He had a double, triple, and home run over the weekend.
Scouting the Bison
North Dakota State comes into this weekend's series with a 1-8 overall record. The Bison lone win came against Kansas. All of the team's games have been on the road so far this season, playing in Arizona and Florida for all of them. In the batter's box NDSU is led by infielders Drew Fearing and Mason Pierzchalski. Fearing has a slash line of .348/.423/.435. Pierzchaiski is hitting .333 with six RBI. On the mound David Ernst is the Bison's go to pitcher with a 4.80 ERA in three games started so far with a 1-2 record.

Northern Colorado is 51-64 all-time against Summit League opponents. The team's most common opponent from the league is South Dakota State. The Bears and Jackrabbits have faced off against each other 50 times.
On Deck
The Bears go on a week long road trip with stops in Nebraska and Missouri. UNC will first play a two game mid-week series against Nebraska. After the series Northern Colorado travels to St. Louis for a three game weekend series against the Billikins.,,

UNC returns home after the five game road trip to host Regis University on St. Patrick's Day, followed by opening up WAC play at home that weekend vs Chicago State.
