GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado wrestling team will hit the road this week, taking on Colorado Mesa University and Utah Valley. The Bears head into the duals sitting at 2-5 on the season. UNC currently has two wrestlers ranked in the country with two other on the verge of cracking the list.
"We are looking forward to a solid weekend as we head west to take on Colorado-Mesa and Utah Valley," said head coach Troy Nickerson. "CMU has a great team this year and it should be an exciting dual. Utah Valley is another conference match up for us and another great opportunity for our guys to solidify conference seeding and NCAA allocations."
The Bears hit the mat against Colorado Mesa on Feb. 12, with wrestling starting at 7:00 p.m. UNC is coming off a dominating win over Grand Canyon by a score of 30-9. The Mavericks currently sit 12-0 on the season in DII play. Earlier in the year the Mavericks placed seven in the Northern Colorado Open.
The next stop on the road trip will be Utah Valley on Feb. 14, with action slated to start at 7:00 p.m. The Wolverines have posted a 2-8 record on the year and currently have one wrestled ranked in the country in #16 Chase Tolbert. Tolbert has posted a solid 14-5 record as a junior and is one of the top wrestlers in the Western Wrestling Conference.
