Making History
- UNC is coming off its biggest win in program history since joining the FCS beating #9/10 Portland State, 35-32. It's the first time since becoming a D1 school that the Bears have defeated a Top 10 ranked team.
Â
It's Pronounced REEK
- Redshirt freshman Trae Riek earned ROOT Sports Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week honors after his performance against the Vikings. Riek rushed for 145 yards and added another 57 receiving for 202 all-purpose yards. He also scored the game-winning touchdown against PSU. He has now rushed for over 100 yards in back-to-back games.
Â
Rise Up
- Junior safety Taylor Risner was in double digits for tackles for the fifth time in nine games. He recorded 14 stops, one pass breakup, one INT and one TFL in the win over Portland State. He now stands eight tackles shy of 100, at 92. If he reaches the century mark, he'll be just the third player in D1 history to record a 100 tackles.
Â
More Awards
- Redshirt freshman quarterback Jacob Knipp was awarded College Sports Madness Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts last Saturday. Knipp tossed a season, and career-high 270 yards on 18 completions and one TD. He helped lead the game-winning drive, connecting on two passes for 86 yards in the final series.
Â
Dome Days
- Head coach Earnest Collins Jr. is looking for his first win inside a dome when the Bears head to North Dakota on Saturday. Under Collins, UNC is currently 0-7 in games played under a roof.
Â
Winning Record

Â
Just Four More

Risner needs just four more to tie the Division I record set in 2014 by former corner Courtney Hall, who holds it with 10 PBUs in one season. Hall is also the career PBU record holder in Division I program history with 21.
Â
Old Rivalry
- The rivalry against North Dakota goes all the way back to UNC's Division II days when they both were a part of the NCC. UND holds a slight advantage in the series, 14-3. Northern Colorado is 8-3 all time in games playing in Grand Forks.
Â
Road Bears
- Northern Colorado is currently 2-2 in road games this season. This is the best record the Bears have away from Nottingham Field in Collins tenure.
Run vs. Run
- UNC has averaged 239.3 yards on the ground in the last three games since redshirt freshman RB Trae Riek has returned to action. North Dakota enters the contest with the third best rushing team in the Big Sky, averaging 222.0 yards each contest.
