@UNCBearsWrestle Dominates Grand Canyon

GREELEY, Colo. – Troy Nickerson and the Northern Colorado Bears won in deciding fashion Friday night over Grand Canyon University. Nickerson's club won six of the ten matches, winning the dual by a score of 30-9.
"That was a team that actually beat us last year, so that shows we have improved," said Nickerson. "The matches we lost I believe we could have won, but we have to continue to fine tune some things so we can overcome those obstacles."
 Trey Andrews had the lone pin on the night, coming in the first match of the evening. Andrews took on Jacob Reyes who came into the match with one win on the year. Andrews earned the pin in the 1:21 minute.
 Andrews imoroves to 15-8 on the year and is currently ranked #20 in the country.
 The Bears also had great showings from Michael Espinoza and Ben Polkowske who wrestled at the 131 and 144 weight classes, coming away with close victories, 3-1 and 7-4.

Mitchell Polkowske continued his dominating year, moving to 16-4 on the year with another win. Polkowske came away with a major decision over Casey Larson, 10-1.
Polkowske is currently ranked #22 in the country by the NCAA.
Finishing out the night wereTrent Noon and Brian Macchione who moved to 16-10 and 13-7 on the year.

Noon complete manhandled Gabe Gonzalez, winning the match by tech fall, 17-2.
Macchione had a tighter match in the heavyweight bout against a quicker, but smaller Marcus Haughian. Macchione controlled most of the match with Haughians points coming in the third period. Macchione hung on to get the win, 6-4.
The Bears are back on the road for next three duals before returning to Bank of Colorado Arena on Feb. 22. UNC hosts Wyoming that night and will honor the  six seniors on the team during intermission. The match is schedule to start at 2:00 p.m.
