@UNCBearsWrestle Hosts Grand Canyon and Kids Day

GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado wrestling team will look to capture their second dual victory of the year when they take on Grand Canyon University this Friday at 7: 00 p.m. The Antelopes come into the match with an overall record of 1-8, with no ranked wrestlers in the country.

"Friday will be another great opportunity for us to compete in front of our home crowd and bring home a win," said head coach Troy Nickerson. "Our guys have really prepared this week, and have been working on some crucial areas for improvement and I look for those to show. "

The Bears are searching to pick up their first home win of the season, and will look to national ranked wrestlers #20 Trey Andrews and #22 Mitchell Polkowske to lead the way.

Prior to the match Friday, the wrestling team will host a special "Kids Day" wrestling clinic from 6-6:30pm. Kids will have an opportunity to practice and run through some drills with UNC wrestlers. This free clinic is only open to the first 50 kids so hurry and sign up. Please email athletics@unco.edu or give them a call at 970.351.2197 to register.

"Kids Day at UNC Wrestling is going to be a spectacular event," said Nickerson. "It is important for our youth in the sport to have heroes and role models to look up to and that is what we are trying to get from the event. I want every kid at the dual to be able to envision themselves in a UNC singlet wrestling in Bank of Colorado Arena one day."
