Mason Portalski joined the Northern Colorado staff as an Assistant Coach during the 2019 season.
UNC went on to win the Big Sky Tournament and advance to the NCAA Tournament in his first season. Portalski, helped coach four All-Big Sky selections and three honorable mentions including the co-Defensive MVP Maddie Barkow.Â

Portalski was previously a Graduate Assistant coach at Western Illinois University from 2017-2019 where he primarily worked with goalkeepers. During that stint he also spent the summer of 2018 in Houston, TX as an assistant coach with the TTI Bluebonnets of the WPSL, the Bluebonnets finished the season as South Texas Conference Champions, making it to the National round of 16.

Portalski earned his B.S. in Kinesiology at Washington State University in 2017 where he was a volunteer with the women’s soccer program and earned his master’s degree in Sport Management at Western Illinois in 2019. Portalski played collegiately at Whittier College in Whittier, Calif., where he was a goalkeeper for the men’s team from 2012-13.Â

Portalski currently holds his United Soccer Coaches National Diploma, Levels 1 & 2 Goalkeeping Diploma’s and his USSF E license.
