Bears Kick Off 2025 Exhibition Match with Renewed Focus and Depth
GREELEY, Colo. – UNC Soccer is back and ready to kick off an exciting new chapter! The Bears open their 2025 season this Sunday, August 10, with a road exhibition match against the University of Denver, and the team is looking to come out strong.
In the 2024 season, the Bears posted a 4-14-1 overall record and 2-5-1 in conference play. The team earned a hard fought 1-0 win over Iowa State on the road, a big 3-1 win in the conference opener against Weber State, and a 1-0 shutout to close out the year against Idaho.
With 14 new faces joining 27 returning players, this year's squad brings fresh energy, added depth, and a strong sense of determination. The team is focused, the momentum is building, and an exciting season full of opportunities lies ahead.
HISTORY
Denver and UNC will meet for the third time in a preseason matchup, having split their first two exhibition games. UNC claimed the most recent exhibition with a 2-1 victory in Greeley in 2018, while Denver won the initial meeting 1-0 in 2017. In regular season play, Denver holds an 8-0 record against UNC, including a 3-1 win in their most recent matchup on August 31, 2023, in Denver.
