COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Northern Colorado track & field wrapped up competition at the 2025 NCAA West First Round with a historic showing from junior hurdler Jerome Campbell, who qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 110-meter hurdles and broke two school records in the process at E.B. Cushing Stadium, hosted by Texas A&M.
Campbell blazed through the 110-meter hurdles quarterfinals in 13.23 seconds (+1.7 wind), placing fourth overall and comfortably advancing to the national championships in Eugene, Oregon. His time shattered his own school record.
Earlier in the meet, Campbell clocked 13.40 in the opening round to advance, before delivering his record-setting performance on Friday night.
The junior standout also competed in the 100-meter dash, posting a personal-best time of 10.12 seconds (+1.1) to place 13th overall—just outside the top 12 needed to qualify for nationals. Despite narrowly missing the championship cutoff, the mark stands as a new Northern Colorado school record, capping off an electric regional campaign.
In the 400-meter dash, freshman Zander Cruzan represented the Bears with a strong showing in his NCAA First Round debut. Cruzan clocked 45.98 seconds, placing 15th overall and second in his heat. Though he did not advance to nationals, his performance solidified his place among the top young quarter-milers in the West Region.
