UNC Men Secure Two Titles, Five All-Conference Honors on Final Day
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Northern Colorado Track & Field closed out the Big Sky Outdoor Championships in Sacramento with a statement, led by two conference titles and multiple postseason honors for standout sprinters Jerome Campbell and Zander Cruzan.
Campbell completed a dominant weekend by winning both the 100m and 110m hurdles. He clocked a 10.25 in the 100m dash to earn the Big Sky title and All-Conference honors. In the 110m hurdles, Campbell matched his prelim time of 13.43 to not only win gold but set a new meet record — a performance that ranks 11th in the nation and 9th in the NCAA West Region.
Campbell was named Co-Men's Most Valuable Athlete (sharing the honor with NAU's Desmond Lott) and earned Men's Most Outstanding Performer, capping an unforgettable championship.
Cruzan brought home his own title in the 400m, running 46.42 to top the field. He added a third-place finish in the 200m (21.41), securing All-Conference honors in both events, and was recognized as Co-Men's Freshman of the Year alongside Montana's Braden Ankeny.
Edgar Garcia reached the finals in both the 100m (8th, 10.71) and 200m (8th, 21.72). He also helped the 4x100m relay squad — featuring Garcia, Cruzan, Campbell, and Floyd Samuels Jr. — to a second-place finish (40.51). The 4x400m relay (Castillo, Garcia, Samuels Jr., Cruzan) placed 8th in 3:15.50.
