GREELEY, Colo. – University of Northern Colorado Softball continues to build its championship-caliber roster with the addition of dynamic two-way standout Sadie Kahl, Head Coach Dedeann Pendleton-Helm announced Tuesday. A 5'11" pitcher and power hitter from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Kahl will bring an elite combination of experience, versatility, and leadership to the Bears for the 2025-26 season.
Kahl transfers to UNC after two impressive seasons at McCook Community College, where she dominated in both the circle and the batter's box. A Region IX All-Region Pitcher in 2025, Kahl racked up 26 career wins and 205 strikeouts across 239.0 innings pitched. She threw 25 complete games over two seasons and significantly improved her ERA to 2.94 in 2024-25 while also notching her first career save.
At the plate, Kahl proved just as impactful. Over 80 games, she slashed .413/.466/.551, collecting 93 hits, 53 RBI, and 17 doubles. Her freshman season was particularly explosive, hitting .466 with 35 RBI and a .618 slugging percentage.
Kahl's accolades include:
Region IX All-Region Pitcher (2025)
Omaha Worlds Midland All-JUCO Pitcher (2024)
Teammate of the Year (2025)
Region 9 Player of the Week (2024, 2025)
Clutch Player of the Year (2021, 2023)
Impact Player of the Year (2022)
A multi-sport athlete at Notre Dame High School, Kahl also played volleyball and set a school standard of excellence. She is the all-time leading scorer at her high school and a four-time all-district honoree. Her proudest athletic moments include winning Region 9 to earn a JUCO World Series berth and capturing the Western Canadian Championship.
Coach Pendleton-Helm shared her thoughts on the addition of Kahl:
"Sadie has worked so hard at McCook Community College and we are very excited for her to join the Bears softball family. She is expected to add her bright spirit and focus to the UNC Bears pitching staff. I cannot wait to work with Sadie!"
Kahl is set to arrive in Greeley ready to make an immediate impact.
