Northern Colorado uses six pitchers in 6-4 loss as Landen takes the tough-luck decision despite strong start

GREELEY, Colo. – Despite a late push that included Kai Wagner's three-run homer, Northern Colorado (10-23, 3-11) fell short in game two of its weekend series, dropping a 6-4 decision to Oral Roberts (20-12, 8-4) Saturday afternoon at Jackson Field.

With the loss, the Bears fall to 0-2 in the three-game set after Friday's 5-9 defeat. Northern will look to avoid the sweep in Sunday's series finale.

Oral Roberts broke a scoreless deadlock in the sixth, plating two runs off UNC starter Trevor Landen before adding two more against reliever Hunter Gibson. Landen (0-2) took the loss, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings.

The Golden Eagles' breakthrough came on Keaton Campbell's RBI single, followed by Jack Schark's run-scoring double and a two-run homer off the bat of Owen Coil to make it 4-0.

The Bears were quiet at the plate until the eighth, when Anthony Stellato sparked a late rally with a pinch-hit single to right. Brett Barber followed with a single of his own, setting the stage for Wagner, who launched a three-run shot to right center to bring the Bears within two.

Oral Roberts tacked on an insurance run in the ninth on Schark's RBI single, extending its lead to 6-3. UNC countered with a sac fly from Jake Bullard in the bottom half, scoring Nick Barber and trimming the deficit back to two, but the Bears were unable to complete the comeback.

Wagner finished 2-for-4 with a double, home run, and three RBI. Starter Nathan Love (5-4) earned the win for Oral Roberts, tossing six scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Dalton Patten picked up his fifth save of the season, despite allowing four runs over the final three frames.
