Bears' offense falters against Nebraska, South Dakota State

LINCOLN, Neb. – Northern Colorado softball faced a tough Saturday at Bowlin Stadium, falling to Nebraska 12-4 and South Dakota State 4-1. The Bears showed flashes of offensive power but couldn't slow down their opponents' bats.

GAME 1 | NEBRASKA 12, NORTHERN COLORADO 4

Pitching: (W) H. Camenzind (2-2); (L) I. DiNapoli (5-3)

Northern Colorado struck early with a four-run third inning, highlighted by RBI hits from Jazzy Longo, Jaycie Gandert, and Abby Gaona. However, Nebraska responded with a six-run fourth and never looked back.

Isabelle DiNapoli took the loss, surrendering nine earned runs over 3.2 innings.

Offensively, Longo led the Bears, going 1-for-2 with two RBIs, while Amailee Morales and Sabrina Javorsky each scored a run.

The Bears struggled to capitalize on scoring chances, stranding 10 runners on base. Their lone run came on a third-inning sacrifice fly from Morales.

Anna Wilming pitched a complete game, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out four. Krista Francia and Nya Chacon each recorded a hit, but the Jackrabbits' pitching staff shut down UNC's offense.
