CHICAGO – Northern Colorado completed their first day of competition at the Wisconsin Windy City Invite in Chicago at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center at Gately Park. The Bears tallied three season bests, four personal bests, two UNC All-Time records, and two Big Sky top 10 All-Time performances.
Zander Cruzan broke the UNC 400m record for the third time this season with 46.29, finishing first in the event. This places him third in the Big Sky All-Time Top 10. Donovan Castillo also finished with a solid performance in the 400m event, finishing fifth overall with a time of 47.48.
Regina Mpigachai broke her own 800m record, which she set at the New Mexico Team Open two weeks ago, finishing with a time of 2:05.73. This places her 5th on the Big Sky All-Time Top 10 list.

COACHES CORNER
Director of Track & Field Wayne Angel shared his thoughts on the team's performance:
"I am so proud of our Bears—they competed hard and represented both the Big Sky and Northern Colorado today. Regina and Zander showed what a few highly motivated Bears can achieve. Zander broke his own school record on his way to winning the invitational 400m.
Regina continues to establish herself as one of the top middle-distance runners in the Big Sky. Her school record today puts her in a great position to do something special at the Big Sky Championships in a couple of weeks.
Our hurdlers looked strong today, and Jerome is poised for a big performance tomorrow—he has the leading time heading into the semifinals.
Overall, I'm pleased with all the personal bests and the positive momentum we're carrying into tomorrow."
