Pollyea, Bennett Open Big Sky Championships in Heptathlon

POCATELLO, Idaho - Northern Colorado opened the 2026 Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday with a strong start in the men's heptathlon, as Ryan Pollyea and Moise Bennett competed through the first four events of the combined competition.
Pollyea paced the Bears early in the 60 meters, placing fifth with a time of 7.13, while Bennett followed in eighth at 7.21. The duo continued to stack points in the high jump, where Pollyea cleared 1.83 meters (6'0.75") for a fourth-place finish and Bennett posted a height of 1.77 meters (5'9.75") to take seventh.
In the long jump, Pollyea recorded a mark of 6.57 meters (21'6.75"), placing sixth overall, while Bennett added a leap of 6.32 meters (20'9.0") to finish ninth. The day concluded with the shot put, where Pollyea threw 10.54 meters (34'7.0") and Bennett measured 9.20 meters (30'2.25").
Through four events, Northern Colorado positioned itself well heading into day two of the heptathlon, with both Bears set to compete in the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000 meters to conclude the combined event competition on Friday.
