GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado junior wide receiver Carver Cheeks has been named the National Football Foundation–Colorado Chapter (NFFCC) Player of the Week, following one of the most prolific performances in program history.
Cheeks exploded for nine receptions, 223 yards, and three touchdowns in the Bears' 35-40 road battle at Sacramento State. The Colorado Springs native averaged 24.8 yards per catch, with scoring plays of 75, 6, and 62 yards to fuel Northern Colorado's high-powered offense.
His 223-yard outing ranks as the second-highest single-game total in UNC's Division I era and fourth all-time in school history. The performance also marked his third 100-yard game of the season and his first career three-touchdown game.
Cheeks currently sits among the national leaders, ranking third in the FCS and first in the Big Sky with 725 receiving yards, while also leading the league in receptions and yards per game (103.6). His 725 receiving yards already rank 10th-most for a single season in Northern Colorado's Division I history.
Cheeks becomes the first player under head coach Ed Lamb and the first selection since 2022 (Elijah Dotson), which recognizes the top performer among 11 college football programs across the state of Colorado.
Honorable Mention: Liam Szarka, Air Force | Joseph Capra, Colorado School of Mines | Javion Kinnard, Colorado State | Roman Fuller, CSU Pueblo | Drew Nash, Western Colorado
