UNC Announces Installation of Lights at Nottingham Field for the 2026 Season
GREELEY, Colo. – The University of Northern Colorado is proud to announce the installation of permanent stadium lighting at Nottingham Field beginning with the 2026 season. The completion of the project continues the enhancement of the Bears' game day experience and athletic facilities.
The project, which will be completed in partnership with Musco Sports Lighting, brings state-of-the-art illumination technology to Nottingham Field, enabling night games, expanded scheduling flexibility, and an elevated atmosphere for student-athletes, fans, and the campus community.
"The addition of lights to Nottingham Field will transform the entire UNC community and their experience around our football program," said Darren Dunn, Director of Athletics. "The ability to host games and events under the lights creates new energy, new traditions, and new opportunities for our student-athletes and fans. I am so thankful for our generous donors and sponsors who made this facility enhancement a reality."
The lighting system installed by Musco features advanced technology designed to provide optimal visibility, energy efficiency, and reduced environmental impact, aligning with UNC's commitment to sustainability and innovation. The cost of the project is estimated at $1.6 million. Musco's light technology limits light spilling into the surrounding neighborhood.
The project was made possible through a combination of generous donor contributions, corporate sponsorships, and athletics-generated revenues. This collaborative funding effort underscores the strong support and shared vision for the future of UNC Athletics.
