COLUMBIA, Mo. – Northern Colorado cross country capped its regular season at the NCAA Pre-Nationals Invitational on Friday morning, testing itself against some of the nation's top programs at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Missouri.
In the women's 6K, Regina Mpigachai continued her standout season with another strong performance, finishing 33rd overall out of 346 runners with a time of 20:22.4. Sabina Stroia followed in 22:10.1, with Brooke Elfert (22:40.9), Ania Magdesian (22:44.3), and Claire Nowels (23:16.1) rounding out Northern Colorado's top five. The Bears placed 37th as a team in a deep and competitive field.
On the men's side, Logan Gullett led the Bears once again, crossing the line in 26:44.3 to finish 221st overall. Noah Osmond (27:00.1), Max Roll (27:23.4), Hunter Kenney (27:47.9), and Noah Mayoral De Anza (28:36.4) completed the scoring group, as the team finished 31st overall.
Pre-Nationals gave us an incredible opportunity to test ourselves against the best in the country, said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Wayne Angel. While not everyone walked away with the times they hoped for, the experience was invaluable and will sharpen us for the Big Sky Championships in two weeks. We are a young team that is growing, learning, and moving forward. Regina continues to lead the way with a standout finish of 33rd among 339 runners. We are excited to carry this experience into the Big Sky Championships.
The meet served as a valuable preview of championship-level competition as the Bears prepare for the Big Sky Championships on November 1 in Bozeman, Montana.
