Made an immediate impact in her first season for Northern Colorado, competing in six races…Opened the year at the Wyoming Invite, finishing 20th in the 5k (18:57.7)…Ran 22nd at the Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invitational (5k – 18:27.9)…Finished 85th at the Louisville Classic (5k – 18:11.5)…Competed in her first 6k of the season at the Missouri Pre-National Invitational, placing 236th in 22:10.1…Posted a strong performance at the Big Sky Conference Championships, finishing 25th in the 5k (17:41.1)…Closed the season at the NCAA Division I Mountain Region Cross Country Championships, running 6k in 23:42.8 to place 107th.
High School: A dedicated and well-rounded student-athlete from Erie High School in Erie, Colorado, Sabina Stroia has been a standout in both cross country and track and field. Known for her leadership and work ethic, she was named team captain and earned accolades such as MVP and Rookie of the Year. Her high school career was highlighted by qualifying for the state championships in multiple events. Sabina also excelled academically, earning spots on both the Dean’s List and Honor Roll.
Personal: Daughter of Alina and Radu Stroia, Sabina has one younger sister, Cristina. She chose the University of Northern Colorado because of the strong team atmosphere, outstanding coaching staff, and the university’s academic opportunities—all close to home, which she deeply values. A Sports and Exercise Science major, Sabina enjoys reading and cooking or baking in her free time.
