Bears Draw Against Vikings

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado Soccer (2-8-5, 1-2-1) battled to a gritty 1-1 draw against Portland State (3-6-3, 2-1-1) on Sunday afternoon, earning a valuable point in conference play at Jackson Stadium.
Facing off against a tough Vikings squad, the Bears came out with energy and intensity. Despite a strong start, it was Portland State who struck first, capitalizing on a scoring opportunity in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
Northern Colorado responded with urgency after halftime. Just minutes into the second half, Anneliese Wong netted the equalizer—her first goal of the 2025 season—finishing a well-worked sequence involving sharp passes from teammates Mia Norman and Preslie Young.
"Obviously you want to secure all three points, especially when you're playing at home," said Head Coach Tim Barrera. "But I'm pleased with the way the team responded in the second half. We out shot them 14 to seven in the second half and earned nine corner kicks to their zero".
Despite several late opportunities, the Bears couldn't find the go-ahead goal and ultimately settled for the draw.
Still, the result adds an important point to Northern Colorado's conference tally, bringing their conference record to 1-2-1 as they look to build momentum heading into their final four conference games.

The Bears will host Idaho State on Friday, October 17. First kick is scheduled for 7 pm MT.
