GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado Soccer (3-8-5, 2-2-1 Big Sky) delivered a dominant performance Thursday night, shutting out Idaho State (5-7-3, 2-3-1) with a 3-0 victory at Jackson Stadium.
The Bears came out energized, setting the tone early with a high-tempo attack that kept the Bengals on their heels. Northern Colorado's pressure paid off quickly when Preslie Young found the back of the net to give the Bears an early lead.
The momentum continued to build as UNC struck twice more before halftime, taking a commanding 3-0 advantage into the break. Idaho State pushed to respond, firing off 22 total shots, but goalkeeper Kaya Lindberg stood tall in net. Lindberg recorded a season-high 13 saves to preserve the shutout.
The second half turned into a defensive showcase for Northern Colorado, which held firm to close out the win and protect its clean sheet.
Head coach Tim Barrera praised his team's effort and focus but emphasized the importance of maintaining that intensity heading into Sunday's home finale.
The Bears will wrap up their home schedule on Sunday as they look to finish the weekend strong.
