Strong Start by Northern Colorado at New Mexico Team Open

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Northern Colorado track & field kicked off competition at the New Mexico Team Open on Friday, making an early statement against strong competition at the University of New Mexico's Albuquerque Convention Center.
Freshman Zander Cruzan delivered a strong performance in the 400m prelims, clocking an impressive 46.88. Senior Donovan Castillo posted a solid time of 47.42, while junior Edgar Garcia crossed the line in 48.90, rounding out a strong showing for the Bears in the event.
Cruzan and Castillo also took on the 200m dash, where Cruzan continued to showcase his speed with a 21.25 finish, while Castillo recorded a time of 21.80.
Looking ahead to day two, Moise Bennett will take on the 60m dash, while he and Jerome Campbell are set to compete in the 60m high hurdles. On the women's side, Regina Mpigachai is set to compete in the 800m, looking to make her mark on the weekend.
The Bears competing at the CU Invitational will start with running events tomorrow morning.
