Bears Open 2025 at Graduate Classic Invitational

GREELEY, Colo. – With two December meets in the books, the indoor season resumes Friday and Saturday with the Graduate Classic Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. The competition, hosted by Nebraska, will include over 40 teams from the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12, and ACC. UNC will be the sole representative from the Big Sky Conference.
The Bears' schedule begins on Jan. 17 at 1:30 p.m. with the men's pole vault. Field and running events are intermingled throughout the day with the final event, the women's 3,000-meter run, starting at 4:05 p.m.
Saturday's schedule will follow a similar format starting with the men's 5,000-meter at 10:00 a.m. The last event of the day, the women's 4x400-meter relay, is set for 4:35 p.m.
BEARS IN THE RANKINGS
The Bears carry five top 50 national marks including an NCAA top 5 effort from freshman Zander Cruzan in the 400-meter (46.73). Junior Jerome Campbell stands 47th at 200-meters (21.55) based on his times at the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.
Senior Regina Mpigachai stands seventh in the mile (4:37.23), while junior Kiana Van Haaren rounds out the rankings at 18th in the long jump (6.16m, 20' 2.5"). Senior Wendira Moss rounds out the rankings at 49th in the 400-meters (56.27).

Northern Colorado had a standout performance at the UCCS CRC Pre-Holiday Invite, earning four event wins and recording four top-10 program marks. The Bears swept the podium in the women's 3,000 meters, with Shantell Hafner taking first (10:13.33), followed by Summer Olson and Claire Nowels. Johnny Fisher won the men's 200 meters (22.52), while Kiana Van Haaren claimed the women's long jump title with a leap of 6.16 meters, ranking 18th in the NCAA this season. Freshman Jaelynn Lane impressed with a win in the women's triple jump (12.00m) and broke into the program's top-10 list in the long jump.
Next Up
The Bears will split up, with some of the team traveling to Colorado Springs, Colo. for the UCCS Invite on Jan. 25. The rest of the team will head south the College Station, Texas Jan. 24-25 for the Ted Nelson Invite.
