Mpigachai Garners Second Weekly BSC Honor

FARMINGTON, Utah – Regina Mpigachai collected her second-consecutive Big Sky Conference Women's Runner of the Week award for her performance at the Greeno-Dirksen Invite – hosted by Nebraska - league officials announced Tuesday.
"Regina's second award comes as a surprise to her, but not to me," Wayne Angel, UNC Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, said. "She has been training at an exceptionally high level leading to noteworthy achievements. She is poised for remarkable things in the future. Kudos to Regina"
Mpigachai, a junior from Geita, Tanzania bested the field by 36 seconds, winning her second race in a week, with a time of 17:00.93. She helped Northern Colorado to a third-place finish at the Greeno-Dirksen Invitational, the highest finish ever by UNC at the event.
The Bears take a week off from competition before competing at the Live in Lou Classic – hosted by Louisville – Oct. 5 in Louisville, Kentucky.
