Bears to Honor 1974 College World Series Team

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado will honor the 1974 College World Series team and nine graduating seniors from this year's squad during the final home weekend on the 2024 home slate, a three-game series against South Dakota State Friday–Sunday.
With three weekends left before the Summit League Championship, South Dakota State (16-22, 8-10) holds a half-game lead over UNC (9-32-1, 8-12-1).
Saturday, the Bears will honor the 1974 team that went to the College World Series. Sunday, the nine seniors on the squad will be recognized for their contributions to the program, the athletics department, the university and the community during their time in Greeley.

The Bears pitching staff posted some of their best outings on the mound last weekend at St. Thomas. The staff posted a .255 opponent batting average and a 3.42 ERA.
UNC hurlers recorded a 1.30 WHIP, an 8.00 K/9 and a 1.71 K/BB ratio.
Jake Storey tossed 6.1 innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits, one walk and fanning four.
Murphy Gienger worked 7.0 innings in his first start of the season, scattering six hits and striking out four.
Jake Carvajal appeared in two games out of the bullpen, recording 4.0 scoreless frames, with two hits and punching out three.

The Bears hit the road for the final six games, beginning at Oral Roberts May 10-12, before traveling to North Dakota State May 16-18.
