Bears Blast Wildcats and Run Winning Streak to 7

GREELEY, Colo. – Erin Caviness threw a complete-game shutout, and Northern Colorado blasted Weber State 8-0 Saturday afternoon to complete the series sweep and extend its winning streak to seven in a row.
The Bears' offense went to work in the bottom of the first inning. Lauren Strathearn started the frame with a single and Amailee Morales then blasted a monster home run over the center field fence to give the Bears a 2-0 lead.
UNC added to its lead in the second inning.
Nya Chacon scored on a throwing error by the catcher and Strathearn added an RBI single to give the Bears a 4-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Strathearn singled up the middle to score a run and Alyssa Wenzel scored on a throwing error and the Bears lead ballooned to 6-0.
The Bears closed out the game in the sixth inning when Strathearn and Quinn Myers – Lenz scored on a throwing error.
Strathearn batted 4-for-4 with two RBI and scored a pair of runs.
Morales finished 1-for-2 with two RBI and drew a walk. Nya Chacon batted 2-for-3 and scored two runs.
Strathearn stole two bases, while Wenzel and Jaycie Gandert each stole a base.
The Bears return to action next weekend and host Idaho State at Gloria Rodriguez Field.
