LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Carson Gross blasted his first career grand slam in Northern Colorado's setback against New Mexico State at Presley Askew Field Sunday.

Austin Bunn, Kai Wagner, Craig Kenny, Brandon Sanchez and Jackson Romero recorded two hits each for the Bears. Bunn drove in two runs, while Romero accounted for three RBIs and Carson Gross added four.

UNC moved out to a 6-2 advantage in the top of the second on three two-out singles. Romero dropped a knock into right center, plating Kenny and Garrett Fisher. Jake King battled for a base-on-balls and scored behind Romero and Sam Pease on a knock by Bunn. Kai Wagner lined a single into center and scored Bunn.

The Aggies sliced the margin to two in the home half of the frame.

In the fourth, UNC opened a seven-run lead with a five spot. Kenny singled home Bunn, with two outs. Gross delivered the big blow, with a grand slam.

New Mexico State grabbed control in the bottom of the frame, scoring nine runs on four hits, including a grand slam. The Aggies added a solo marker in the fifth and eight more in the sixth.

The Bears' final tally crossed the plate on a miscue by the home defense.
