Bears Send Three to NCAA Championship

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado secured three selections to the 2024 NCAA Championships at The T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, Thursday, March 21 – Saturday, March 23.
Each of the 10 weight classes field 33 wrestlers with No. 32 and 33 facing off in a pigtail match, with the winner taking on the top seed in the first round.
Stevo Poulin and Vincent Zerban claimed two of the 47 at-large bids available, while Dominick Serrano punched his ticket with a third-place finish at the Big 12 Championships. Poulin and Zerbin obtained a bid to the NCAA Championship in back-to-back seasons, while Serrano garnered his first selection.
Serrano earned the highest ranking for the Bears, slotted in at No. 9, set to face Julian Chlebove (18-8) of Arizona State in the first round of the 157-pound bracket. The winner takes on the victor of (25) Braden Basile of Army and eight-seeded Evan Frost of Iowa State (18-4) in the second round.
At 125, No. 20 Poulin (19-4) opens against Missouri's No. 13 Noah Surtin (15-5) The winner takes on either (29) Brendan Mccrone of The Ohio State (19-11) or (4) Matt Ramos from Purdue (25-5) in the second round.
No. 18 Zerban (24-2) takes on San Diego State's (15) Cael Swensen (20-8). The victor clashes with either second-seeded Jacori Teemer of Arizona State (21-3) or Little Rock's Matty Bianchi (17-8), ranked 31st.
