BOISE, Idaho – Northern Colorado found itself on the wrong side of a physical and hard-fought 47-45 overtime result against Montana State Thursday in the 2024 Big Sky Conference Quarterfinals at Idaho Central Arena.
Delaynie Byrne led the Bears (15-15) with 16 points and added eight rebounds, with a block. Aniah Hall added 10 points and matched Tatum West with a game-high nine boards.
Byrne netted the first 13 points for UNC but gritted her through the remainder of the game after returning from injury in the second frame.

Hitting just one of its 11 field-goal attempts in the opening quarter, UNC converted half of its 10 attempts in the second frame and carried a 19-15 advantage into the intermission.
Montana State ratcheted up the defense in the third stanza and closed with its largest cushion of the contest at 28-25, with 10 minutes remaining.
UNC erased a 32-29 deficit with a 9-0 run and established its largest gap of the game at 38-32 on a layup by Byrne with 4:16 left in regulation.
A pair of free throws with 25 ticks showing completed a 10-4 spurt by the Bobcats, evening the score at 42. A jumpball with seven seconds to go handed the ball over to Montana State but a shot fell short.
In the extra period, UNC went 1 for 10 from the field, missing all three from behind the arc. The Bobcats failed on their four attempts but converted 5 of 6 at the free-throw line.
