GREELEY, Colo. – For the first time in five years the Northern Colorado women's basketball team will play in the postseason and will match up with Texas-San Antonio in the first round of the WNIT on Thursday. The opening tip is set for 5:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the ESPN + platform.

UNC and the WNIT

The WNIT is one of basketball's most prestigious events and it's the fifth time the Bears will play in the event. UNC last played in the WNIT in 2019 at Wyoming. The Bears also played in the WNIT in 2012, 2013 and 2015.

It's the second time UNC and UTSA will play on the basketball court. The two teams last played on November 25, 2016, which the Bears won 73-66.

Three UNC student-athletes return to Texas to play in front of their family and friends: Gabi Fields, Aniah Hall, and Tatum West.

Big Sky Conference Postseason Honors
Â
Delaynie Byrne, Hannah Simental, and sophomore Aniah Hall were named to the Big Sky Conference All-Conference Team.
Â
Byrne was named to the conference's first team, Simental to the second team and Hall honorable mention.
Â
An Arvada, Colorado native, Byrne enjoyed a great 2023-24 campaign.
Â
Byrne, a true dual-threat averaged nearly averaged a double-double with 13.6 and 8.0 rebounds per game and ranked in the top 10 in the conference in both categories. Byrne is also a threat to score beyond the arc and ranks fourth in the conference with a 36.7 percent (53-for-137).

A true double-double machine, Byrne recorded seven double-doubles.

In conference play, Byrne's best game was a 23-point, nine-rebound effort in a 67-57 win over Montana State.

Byrne also surpassed the 1000 career point club.

Simental enjoyed a great 2023-24 season.

A Pueblo, Colorado native, Simental averaged 12.6 points per game.

Simental is known for her 3-point shooting and shot 39.1 percent (66-for-169) from beyond the arc, which ranks third in the conference. Simental averaged 2.3 3-pointers per game, which is third in the conference.

Simental's best effort in conference play with a 20-point performance in a 69-59 win over Sacramento State.

Hall, a sophomore from Temple, Texas, enjoyed a breakout campaign.

The 6-foot-3 forward averaged 10.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game and ranked in the top 25 in both categories. Hall totaled 22 blocked shots, which ranked 10th in the conference.

Hall's best performance in conference play was a 24-point, 16-rebound effort in a 71-54 win at Portland State.
