Northern Colorado's Season Comes to a Close in the WNIT

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Northern Colorado started fast but could not overcome a slow start to the second half and fell 80-62 at UTSA in the opening round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament Thursday evening.
In the first quarter, the Bears shot 50 percent (8-for-16) from the field in the first quarter and 23-19 after 10 minutes of play.
The Roadrunners outscored the Bears 21-12 in the second quarter and led 40-35 at the break.
Both teams scored 20 points in the third quarter and UNC trailed 60-55. In the fourth quarter, the Roadrunners outscored the Bears 20-7 and UNC could not overcome the deficit.
Hannah Simental scored 18 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the field, including 4-for-6 from 3-point range. Simental also handed out three assists and recorded a pair of steals.
Delaynie Byrne dropped 14 points on 5-for-16 shooting from the floor and grabbed seven boards.
Aniah Hall helped with 12 points and hauled six rebounds and four assists.
