UNC Falls at LA Tech on Opening Day

RUSTON, La. – Northern Colorado dropped a 9-3 decision on opening day against LA Tech at J.C. Love Field Friday.
With runners on the corners and one out in the opening frame, Caden Wagner singled to right, plating Austin Bunn for the first run of the season.
Knotted at 1-1, the Wagner brothers opened with back-to-back base knocks in the top of the third. Kai Wagner tallied his first hit as a Bear with a smash through the right side of the infield. He moved up 90 feet when Caden registered his second hit in two at-bats. The Bears manufactured a run with Kai moving up on a flyout and scoring on a groundout.
The Bulldogs moved in front for the first time with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
UNC closed the deficit to 4-3 with Kai Wagner's second run of the day. He led off the fifth with a free pass and came around to score on an RBI single through the left side by Jackson Romero.
LA Tech answered with three more in the bottom of the stanza and added single markers in the sixth and seventh.
