GREELEY, Colo. – University of Northern Colorado fought for four quarters, but No. 10-ranked Incarnate Word pulled away late in the second half and defeated the Bears 42-7.

The Cardinals, with a reputation for an explosive offense, were held to just seven points in the first quarter

UIW added 14 points in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 21-0 lead.

The Bears scored in the fourth quarter when Hank Gibbs connected with Blake Haggerty for a 43-yard pitch-and-catch.

KEY STATS

-David Afari rushed for 43 yards on 14 attempts, including a long of 12.
-Darius Stewart carried the rock 13 times for 32 yards.
-Haggerty added four receptions for 57 yards and one touchdown reception.
-Ty Arrington recorded two grabs for 53 yards.
-Jacob Sirmon completed 13-of-27 passes for 114 yards.
-Vincent King finished with a team-high 10 tackles.
-Keyvon Lakes added seven tackles, including five solo stops.

"Same sentiment as last week, an unacceptable result. I've said it, I continue to believe it, the team is talented enough and good enough to win. It's my job to get them there and we aren't there. I thought the game was close and competitive for a long time and we couldn't get over that hump."
