GREELEY, Colo. – A battle between University of Northern Colorado and Sacramento State ended in a 2-2 draw at Jackson Stadium Sunday.
Off a set piece near midfield, Mia Norman launched a ball into the box that glanced off the keeper's fingertips and trickled across the line, evening the score at 1-1.
Riley Kaali-Nagy chipped a pass towards the Hornets' net, which the keeper failed to secure due to an incoming Lexi Tuite. The ball bounded away from the duo, allowing Kaali-Nagy to sweep in for the go-ahead tally.
Danna Restom collected a rebound and beat the goalkeeper to the lower left corner for a 1-0 lead, just 38 seconds into the match.
On a through ball, Abigail Lopez split the defense and tucked her shot inside the right post with 42 seconds left on the clock.
FROM THE HEAD COACH
"Just such a disappointing result after fighting so hard to come back in the second half," Head Coach Tim Barrera said." "You must get wins at home, especially in conference play and we just let it slip away. It guts you a little bit, especially after giving up the fluke goal on Friday. Only getting one point over the weekend makes it tougher down the road but we know that we can compete with anyone in the league. We have to massive home games coming up that we must get ready for."
