Boeris Paces Bears at Gene Miranda Falcon Invite

Shehee Wins Indivdual Tournament
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Northern Colorado freshman Pietro Boeris turned in a 2-under par scorecard on the final day of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite, which concluded Tuesday at the Eisenhower Golf Course – on the Blue Course (par 72/7,541 yards).
Boeris inked a 70 that featured four birdies, helping the Bears to a 10-over-par 298 and finish in a tie with Wofford for 16th-place. The freshman registered back-to-back rounds below par, after opening his first collegiate round with a 74 Sunday. Boeris shot a 1-under par 71 Monday.
UNC totaled 888 points, four better than Incarnate Word in 18th and five ahead of Utah Tech, while finishing only eight shots back of Utah State in 10th.
Alessio Battista and Peter Grossenbacher completed the opening event on the season schedule in a seven-way tie for 63rd, with an 8-over par 224 total.
Battista opened with a 79 Sunday, before netting a 1-over par 145 over the final 36 holes. He logged an even-par 72 Monday and a 73 Tuesday. His eagle on the 402-yard par four 10th highlighted Monday's round.
Grossenbacher opened with an even-par 72 Sunday, with four birdies, before tallying a 74 Monday. Tuesday's round featured a birdie on the 587-yard par five ninth, his lone red number in the round.
Westin Pals tied for 85th (77-73-78=228), while Blake Danni rounded out the scoring for UNC in a tie for 98th (77-78-77=232).
Colorado State won the team event with an 8-under par 851, while Wyoming (862) claimed second. Valparaiso and UC Davis shared third at 864.
Valparaiso's Caleb VanArragon defeated Christoph Bleier of Colorado State on the first playoff hole. Each shot 13-under par, while Jakub Hrinda placed third at 10-under par.
IN SINGLES ACTION
Northern Colorado's TJ Shehee defeated UC Davis' Alejadro Nava and Cal Poly's Louis Pilod in a three-way playoff in the individual tournament played on the Silver Course (Par 72/6,510 yards). The trio completed the 54-round event deadlocked at 206, 10-under par. Shehee (66-71-69=206) won the title on the second playoff hole.
Gage Messingham placed fourth (69-69-71=209), three shots behind teammate Shehee.
Antti Vahvaselka posted an even-par in Tuesday's final round, finishing at 224. He opened with two rounds of 76.

The Bears return to the course Sept. 17-18 at the Kansas State Wildcat Invitational – hosted by Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas.
