GREELEY, Colo. – University of Northern Colorado lifts the lid on the 2023 cross country campaign Saturday at the Wyoming Invite on the Little America Course in Cheyenne, Wyo.
"All in all, we feel very good about both the men's and women's teams as we head into Saturday," Associate Head Cross Country Coach Stormie Sickler said. "We have a tight pack on each team where they can flip flop positions through the weeks while all elevating our team's success."
The women knock off the rust with a 5k at 9 a.m., with the men's start scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m.
"We are excited to kick the season off and to see the Bears attack the first meet tomorrow," Sickler said.
UNC returns four of the top five runners from last year's team, including top performer Regina Mpigachai. The women's team features four fresh faces, including graduate transfer Julia Thigpen and a talented group of incoming freshmen – Brooke Eifert, Claire Nowels and Kayla Shea.
Jesse Hayward, a Greeley, Colorado native, highlights a veteran men's team that returns their entire squad from 2022. The men added three skilled freshmen in the offseason – Kamryn Golub, Noah Osmond and Dylan Wilson.
