Six Earn All-Big Sky Honors

FARMINGTON, Utah – A total of six UNC softball student-athletes have been earned All-Big Sky honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
UNC's Lauren Strathearn, Alyssa Wenzel and Erin Caviness were named First Team All-Big Sky, while Sabrina Javorsky, Amailee Morales and Alexsi Barashkoff were named Honorable Mention All-Big Sky.
A Broomfield, Colo., native, Strathearn led the Big Sky with a .379 hitting percentage and was tied for second in total hits with 50. She also ranked second in the Big Sky with 11 stolen bases. Serving as the Bears' leadoff hitter, Strathearn holds a .406 on-base percent, and recorded two doubles and two triples.
Wenzel, a senior from Murrieta, Calif., was second on the Bears with a .365 batting average, recording 50 hits in 137 at-bats. Her batting average ranks fourth in the conference, and she's tied for the Big Sky lead with three triples. Wenzel was previously named Second Team All-Big Sky in 2021.
A senior pitcher from Thornton, Colo., Caviness leads the Big Sky in strikeouts with 125, and ranks second in opposing batting average with a .253 mark. She also ranks second in the conference for wins with 13. Her ERA of 3.24 ranks fourth in the Big Sky. This is the second time Caviness has been named First Team All-Big Sky, previously earning the honor in 2021.
Javorsky, a sophomore catcher from Ladera Ranch, Calif., has had a tremendous season behind the plate. She has recorded 151 putouts, ranking seventh in the Big Sky, and has caught three runners attempting a steal. At the bat, she holds a .232 batting average and has hit two home runs this season with 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
A freshman from Surprise, Ariz., Morales holds a perfect fielding percentage while this season at first base. She holds a .420 on-base percentage which ranks seventh in the Big Sky and holds a .292 batting average.
Barashkoff, a junior from Bellevue, Wash., leads the Bears this season with five home runs to her name. Her slugging percentage of .515 ranks ninth in the conference. She sits fourth on the team with a .317 batting average.
UNC takes on Montana in the first round of the 2023 Big Sky Conference Softball championship this Wednesday, May 10, at noon (MT). The tournament is being hosted by Weber State in Ogden, Utah.
