GREELEY, Colo. – North Dakota State edged Northern Colorado 7-5 in extra innings Friday afternoon in Summit League action from Jackson Field.
As a team, the Bears produced 15 hits.
Hayden Heinze, batting second in the Bear's lineup, finished 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and scored three times. Jake King, Craig Kenny, and Carson Gross each batted 2-for-5.
Caden Wagner, Austin Bunn, Jackson Meier, Bryce Moore, and Jackson Romero each picked up a hit. King, Kenny, and Wagner all added an RBI.
Freshman Dylan Smith started the game and tossed six strong innings and was credited with the no-decision. Smith scattered seven hits, allowed three runs and one walk while striking out a career-high nine batters.
UNC returns to action Saturday at 12 p.m. for Kids Day at Jackson Field. All home games are free and open to the public.
