UNC Drops Heartbreaker in Extra Innings

POCATELLO, Idaho – Hitting her second home run in as many games, Alison Steinker hit a two-run bomb over left field to give the Northern Colorado softball team a 2-0 lead over Idaho State in the fourth inning on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Bears ended up losing the series-deciding game, 3-2, in extra innings.
UNC recorded seven hits in the contest, but only converted two runs thanks to Steinker's third homer of the season. Abby Gaona scored for UNC on the homerun as she was pinch running for Alexsi Barashkoff after she led off the fourth with a single.
Idaho State was held to just five hits in the contest, however, three of those ended up being solo homeruns.
Erin Caviness pitched the first 7.0 innings for the Bears, as she struck out seven batters with just two runs and four hits against.

Northern Colorado returns home to host Montana for a weekend series on April 14-15. The doubleheader on Friday will server as Military Appreciation Day for the Bears, and first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. (MT). Saturday's solo contest will server as UNC's Pink Game, and will begin at noon.
